The world is ending...
(gakked from [info]psyla)

So I went and took the quiz at http://www.personalitylab.org/tests/ccq_hogwarts.htm, and it came out Ravenclaw! That's the first time I've ever returned a non-Gryffindor result -- or maybe there was one Slytherin in there somewhere... -- anyway. Final results were:

95% Ravenclaw
90% Gryffindor
83% Hufflepuff
40% Slytherin

I might try it again in a couple days and see if I turn up the same results. It's a very different sort of test than other Sorting Hats around. For starters, there are 112 questions; the most I've ever seen before was about 25.

Oh, by the way, [info]agatha_b, it seems you have a fellow Hufflepuff out there in the form of [info]psyla.

In other news, the rooms are entirely painted (although the bedroom seems to be rather blotchy and is requiring another coat) and almost all the trim is done, too. I also got a nice desk for the study. But no chair. And no bookshelves, yet.

And, last night I was assaulted by a story! Or more accurately, by a chapter of a story that I've been trying to write for... uhm, I think about 4 months now. It's still in fragments, but I have about 500 words, which is 497 better than I'd been able to do in the last 4 months. Yay!

One down, two to go...
Today we got one room painted! Yay!! And it looks wonderful, too. I can't wait until we finish the other ones -- my dad moved a bunch of stuff out of one room this evening, so we can get at the walls to strip wallpaper. Then of course we discovered that the carpet backing had disintegrated/stuck to the floor... ick. More work. I want to paint now, dammit!! And get furniture, and unpack, and put my posters up, and get my computer set up in a permanent location...

Oh, here's one you don't get every day. My mom told me to be more promiscuous. Of course, she was referring to sending out my resume... Job search sucketh. 'Nuff said?

More 13-day hiatus updates.
In other news, renovations of the 'suite' I'm taking over here at home are going pretty well. I've almost finished stripping the wallpaper in one of the two rooms, and made a start on the other. (Why not finish the first? Well, there's this muddle of cables and A/V stuff against the wall...) Paint colors are chosen, so as soon as the wallpaper comes down and the walls are spackled and sanded, I can get down to painting. And then rearranging/adding furniture, and then, finally unpacking completely so I can stop living out of boxes. I have a deep fear I'll get all this done only to move out, but, well, things being what they are in the job market...

Besides, the wallpaper was ugly and older than I am.

I'm feeling creative. Or, more accurately, I'm feeling like I'd like to be creative, but no inspiration is presenting itself. I keep picking up pen, or keyboard, or sketchbook, and... nothing. A few doodles that aren't much more than random scribbles. A few hard-fought words tacked on to a story I've been working on for ages. But I really, really want to do something... just not sure what.

On a sad note, on Tuesday my cat died. She was 15 and she didn't seem to be suffering in any way -- except that she was feeling rather crotchety, but what nearly-centenarian isn't entitled to be a bit crotchety, right? Still, it was very hard for me; I've had her since I was seven. (incidentally, that's not her in my lj icon; she was a grey and black tabby)
